re-enchantment

The world gets faster,
an ever increasing turnover
of things we must buy,
to be relevant:
to have the good life.

Attention spans decrease.
everything in soundbites and tweets
lost in our flat screens,
detached from the non-human world.

Slow down.
Wake up
Pay attention.
Look around
Find the magic in the ordinary.
Beauty everywhere.

The butterfly flitting past
the hawk soaring silently, high above
a contrast to the noisy, polluting plane
concurrently traversing the same blue sky.

Feel of soft welcoming earth beneath bare feet.
Find the joy in what is freely gifted.
A smile, a birdsong, a hug,
a warm ray of sunlight breaking through clouds.

Slow down.
Wake up
Pay attention.
Look around
Find the magic in the ordinary.
Beauty everywhere.
