Refuge

My creative muse
has gone on extended holiday.
Traipsing away from the industrial intensity
and manufactured madness,
seeking solace and delight far, far away.

I pray she has shed the exhaustion,
melancholy and despair
and now cavorts over rainbows
and freewheels along wind-trails,
amongst flocks of birds.
Clambers through ancient trees
to feast on juicy fruits
alongside playful monkeys.
Drinks from sweet, clean streams
brimming with fish.
And finds rest in wildflower meadows
buzzing with insects,

in that beautiful elsewhere
that must still exist somewhere out there.
Even, on our poor, diminished earth.
A hidden refuge
where spirits and wild ones can breathe.

A place that is hopefully more
than just my mind’s desperate imagining.

  1. Beautiful …. Can I read it out on my show? If so is there a song or piece of music you’d like to follow that?

I cd send you a copy of the show afterwards and would of course credit you and your blog

    All the best, Nicky

  2. That wish goes straight to the heart of the trouble we are in. My own trouble is lack of energy to even go looking for it. How is your energy? Monica O’Wheel
