Things of beauty

Let me craft something of beauty
to remind us all of what is possible
when human hearts and minds unite
beyond right and wrong
in Rumi’s field of knowing.
Here sunlight turns the night’s tears
into a thousand sparkling orbs
each nestled delicately on blades of grass
reflecting the world around.
Birds sing the day into being.
Flowers slowly unfold,
in response to the sun’s warm embrace,
beckoning bees to feast.
Children run barefoot,
crushing grass, sending watery orbs tumbling
onto thirsty ground
and startling birds and bees
in their morning exuberance.
So the diurnal creatures welcome the day
and the Earth rejoices in our awakening aliveness.
